Every child who has experienced abuse, violence and exploitation will respond differently to the stress and trauma. While some children have long-lasting effects, others are able to recover quicker and with ease. Many children in Upper Nile state still suffer from gender based violence sexual assault, child abuse and neglect.

One day when my mother was away a young man who was our neighbor before crisis in Malakal, came home with some food items and requested me to cook for him and take the food to their home, I did as per what he said without any hesitation because I knew the guy well and how kind he was to us when we were in Malakal.
I went to their home and did not find any one expect him alone, he welcomed me and he told me to put the food on the table inside a room when I entered inside he closed the door hold me on my neck and sexually abused me. I screamed loudly until the neighbors came for my rescue. The same day I was referred to the nearest health facility where I was provided with health services, I also received psychosocial support services, some cash and food items provided by WOCO organization funded by WAR CHILDHOLLAND, now I am fairing on well I thank God for their help
