South Sudan Widows and Orphans Charitable Organization SSWOCO has launched a new top-up project for 2023 targeting some 1.4 million of people in need of aids in Upper Nile State.
The Programs that run mainly among the displaced persons are tailored to support people who are suffering from floods and conflicts in Fashoda, Melut and Malakal Counties. The violence in the state has displaced thousands of people mainly women and children. In Malakal, many people have fled violence in the UN protection of Civilian site (PoCs) while in Kodok, the displaced due to flood and communal conflicts are integrated into the host community and others are sheltered at the UN based in the Kodok.
SSWOCO operates a budget of 200, 000 Euros to alleviate people from the impact of climate change and conflicts in the areas Malakal, Fashoda and Melut counties.
The continues conflict in upper Nile has created dire humanitarian consequences on the people and the most affected members of the communities are women and children. The UN estimated up to nine thousand people have been displaced due to recent conflicts in the area.
This humanitarian operation is being funded by Dutch Relief Alliance through South Sudan based pool fund, the South Sudan Joint Response, SSJR administered through the Dutch embassy in South Sudan.
