As part of its psychosocial support intervention in Aburoc, WOCO is providing Child friendly space to war affected children in Aburoc IDPs camp in Fashoda County, Upper Nile. The space consists of several games and plays that help children recover from their traumatic and stressful experiences.
Robbed of security and displaced from their homes, many young people experience feelings of anxiety, fear and sadness. Vulnerable groups - including girls and children with disabilities - are among the worst affected.
WOCO introduced in its area operation, activities such as sport, dance, songs, skipping and drama/role play for children affected by war.
This approach to Psychosocial intervention is geared towards promoting psychosocial skills and life tasks with emphasis on normalizing and restoring stable living conditions.
The program also helps children deal with their situations through various methods which involves creative means such as drawing and play. Other activities also focus on children’s social environment where parents and facilitators help children as a mean of strengthening children psychosocial well-being and stress resilience.
