Violence against women and girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world an estimated one in three women will experience physical or sexual abuse in her lifetime. Gender-based violence undermines the health, dignity, security and autonomy of its victims, yet it remains masked in a culture of silence. Victim of violence can suffer sexual and reproductive health consequences, including forced and unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, traumatic fistula, and sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and even death as well as psychological problem. This is not devastating for survivors of GBV and their families, but also entails significant social and economic cost to the country. Children who are growing up with violence are more likely to suffer or become survivor themselves or perpetrators of violence in the future WOCO as a concern women organization is striving to further gender equality through awareness raising community sensitization and women empowerment to address the physical and emotional consequences of gender-based violence. WOCO’s programmes offer psychosocial support services to women and girls in Fashoda County Aburoc IDPs camp and in Kodok Payam who have experienced stress and trauma as a result of the prolong war and conflict in South Sudan .WOCO works in collaboration national and international partners like IMA ,IMC,ICRC,WV ,NRDC and MSF.Women Participating in Psychosocial Support Services Activities which include bed sheets Sewing Crocheting and Beads Making in The Women and Girls Friendly Space Runs by WOCO in Kodok –Fashoda County
Survivors of GBV are being referred to the relevant service providers which include MSF and IMA to access health. WOCO provides Women and girls with PSS activities in the established Women and girls’ friendly space, the centre is utilized by 84 women and 20 adolescents girls who are engaged in different activities which include embroidery, hand craft, soap making, bread making and tailoring
