Local and national NGOs (L/NNGOs) in South Sudan are seen to have limited capacity and influence on humanitarian decision-making with donors. Hence making the Partnerships between them to be less effective in order to bridge this gap and ensure effective partnership, building the capacity of the local organization was proposed as the best solution. Capacity assessment was carried out by the lead SSJR partners to identify the areas of weakness which required intervention .the focus of the assessment was on the core organizational capacity which included financial management and reporting, human resource management skills, monitoring and evaluation and many others.

Another important area highlighted as the most the crucial for effective partnership was the organizational core values and principles, commitment to programme quality, humanitarian principles, and accountability to affected persons.

WOCO was one of the identified national NGOs that benefited from the capacity building offered by SSJR lead partners funded by Dutch Relief Alliance 2018 to 2019.

The capacity building programme  emphasized  on key important areas that included  financial management ,Monitoring and evaluation, proposal writing reporting  and grant management, fund raise strategy .One of the areas tackled  as part of the capacity building plan was training the staff prevention from  sexual Exploitation and Abuse ,Gender mainstreaming and Core Humanitarian Standard and communication and visibility .

The trainings were provided by hired consultant. The benefices of the trainings were the front liners both from field and national level.  The consultant firm hired to offer these trainings were WISE LEAD constancy, Asset Africa, MDF training and Consultancy Company and Inspire for management excellence .
