Child protection in South Sudan remains one of the most challenging humanitarian concerns in the region.
Decades of war and inter-communal conflicts have caused widespread internal displacement and destroyed the protective environment for children. Many children remain vulnerable to recruitment into armed groups, family separation and abduction, sexual and economic exploitation, physical violence and psychological trauma, and in some cases lack necessary and adequate adult care or support.
WOCO, in its struggles to support Children welfare in Malakal PoC has trained its staffs in life skill games, plays that help children learn to control physical movement, practice adherence to game rules, manage frustration or disappointment, or set small goals for completion.
In this training that took place at the end of June, the staffs were trained on how they would adopt local games and culture into life skills.
The objectives of the training were to integrate local culture and games into life skills activities to address issues such as peer to peer relations, conflict resolution and gender inclusivity.
